Intra Natal & Newborn Care Unit
Ensures intra-natal and newborn care receives adequate attention in MCH/FP policy and that quality care reaches all women and newborns in both institutional and community settings.
The unit develops evidence-based national guidance, strengthens infrastructure and supportive services, enhances staff competencies, and promotes the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative while fostering stakeholder collaboration.
Core functions:
• Establishing uniform, current technical guidance for intra-natal and newborn care.
• Delivering essential and advanced newborn care service packages.
• Bolstering infrastructure and supportive services including laboratory, radiology, and intensive care capabilities.
• Enhancing staff knowledge and skills across care levels.
• Implementing the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.
• Building partnerships with organizations focused on improving outcomes.
