Screening services and logistics management for early detection programmes across Sri Lanka's health system.
Objectives and services:
• Screening services: detection of early signs of cancer (breast, cervical, oral) as well as non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
• Logistics management: forecasting consumables, obtaining stocks, and distributing materials to Regional Medical Services Divisions and 35 hospital laboratories.
• Capacity building: annual training for health workers and cyto screeners; district-level specialized programmes addressing specific needs like high unsatisfactory smear rates.
• Technical oversight: National Technical Advisory Committee meetings with specialists from Sri Lanka's medical colleges and UN agencies to monitor and improve the programme.
• International coordination: collaboration with stakeholders on cervical cancer elimination initiatives.
